The Power of Relationships: Our Commitment to Sustainability and Environmental Protection

February 17, 2025

In today’s world, the need for a safe, reliable and clean energy solution has never been more pressing. With the rising challenges of climate change and the growing demand for sustainable energy, we must embrace solutions that ensure long-term energy security for Canada while respecting the environment and the communities we live in.

Nuclear power offers a safe, zero-emission source of electricity capable of supporting Alberta’s energy future for generations to come.

We want to create lasting, positive change that will leave a legacy of opportunity for Albertans.

Putting Communities First: Building Together

The journey to a sustainable energy future in Alberta isn’t one we can walk alone. We’re committed to engaging thoughtfully and responsibly with local communities, Indigenous Nations and others who have an interest in the future of our Project. We want to foster open, transparent communication to ensure that our vision for a sustainable energy future benefits us all.

We understand that trust is the foundation of all successful partnerships. Energy Alberta is dedicated to establishing enduring, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities in Canada that contribute to Indigenous self-determination, sustainable development and lasting economic opportunities.

Safety is Our Top Priority

When it comes to energy production, safety is paramount. Nuclear energy is one of the safest, most reliable sources of power available today. With advanced safety systems and rigorous regulatory standards, Canada’s nuclear industry has earned a reputation for its commitment to safety and environmental protection.

Nuclear facilities in Canada are among the most regulated in the world. They are routinely inspected to ensure that they meet or exceed the stringent safety and environmental standards set by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and international regulators.

Our proposed facility would adhere to the highest safety standards, with multiple, independent safety systems in place to prevent accidents and mitigate risks should they arise.

Committed to Environmental Protection

We are dedicated to achieving the highest standards in environmental safety and protection. We share the value of protecting local water resources and the surrounding habitat.

Canadian nuclear power plants operate under some of the strictest health, safety, and environmental regulations in the world, and we are committed to maintaining this standard at every stage of our project.

Our proposed facility would use advanced technology to minimize water use and extensive programs would be in place to ensure that our operations have as little impact as possible on the local watershed and Peace River ecosystem.
